Hunger Skateparks Design

Indiana-based Hunger Skateparks is a highly regarded company with many years of experience designing and building skateparks that are equal parts skate features, gathering places and public art installations. The company is designing a new skatepark, in coordination with Over It, ArtStart and a group of local volunteers, to be located at Hodag Park in Rhinelander. This park will cover approximately 16,000 square feet at the north end of the park, offering a generous amount of space for skaters to enjoy. Surfaces will be built entirely with concrete to provide smooth skating and a long service life. It’ll be packed with a mix of street and transition features that cater to all skill levels, from stair sets and rails, to ledges, bowls and flat spaces. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced skater, you’ll find an obstacle suitable for your skill level.

The park will be designed to maximize flow, so that one feature flows into the next and the whole thing becomes a natural extension of Hodag Park as you enter and move through. It will take an underutilized area of the park and make it a focal point. It will be an inclusive environment that encourages creativity and skill development. This skatepark won’t just be a place to skate; it will be a community hub. It will be a way for the people of Rhinelander and surrounding communities to come together, stay active, and enjoy the outdoors. In addition it will serve as a medium for multiple generations of skaters and other members of the community to connect. It will be a welcoming and vibrant space at the top of Hodag Park and a focal point for youth, built in a beautiful and engaging setting that welcomes in the rest of the community.
